Ubu ist impulsiv, gewalttätig und egozentrisch. Er macht Dummheit zu seiner größten Kraft (manche Führer in unserer heutigen Welt zeigen möglicherweise eine unangenehme Ähnlichkeit in einigen Aspekte).
Das ursprüngliche Stück „Ubu Roi“, das 1896 von Alfred Jarry geschrieben wurde, war eine Provokation des bürgerlichen Theaters und der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft. Anstelle von Moral und Tugend siegen in diesem Stück Dummheit und Urgewalt .
Neville Tranter: “Ich präsentiere Ubu als Solostück. Das machte es notwendig, dieses Stück komplett neu zu schreiben.
Mein Ubu endet mit einer guten Nachricht: Selbst die Ubu’s dieser Welt regieren nicht endlos. Aber es gibt auch schlechte Nachrichten: Andere Ubu’s werden früher oder später folgen!”

A play about the grotesque and the bizarre in a dark world.
King Ubu is the bizarre story of the rise and fall of Ubu and his ambitious wife Ma Ubu.
Ubu is impulsive, violent and egocentric. He makes stupidity into his biggest force (some leaders in our world today may show an uneasy ressemblance in this aspect).
Ubu and Ma Ubu strike relentlessly when they meet weakness. Greed, lust, pride and wrath guide them. They have the emotional depth of a paper cut out and it is not without reason that they sail out of this story in a 2-dimensional paper boat.
The original play, “Ubu Roi”, written by Alfred Jarry in 1896, was a provocation of bourgeois theatre and of bourgeois society. Instead of morality and merit, in this play stupidity and primal violence are victorious.
Neville Tranter: I will present Ubu as a solo piece. That made it necessary to completely rewrite this play.
My Ubu ends with good news: Even the Ubu’s in this world do not reign endlessly. But there is also bad news: Other Ubu’s will follow sooner or later!”
