A gloomy room, puppets under cloths, a man enters and reveals the dust of his memories.
Berlin, April 20th 1945.
The Russian soldiers are already in the suburbs and make their shooting way to the center of town, where the underground Führer's bunker is located. We find ourselves in a dusty space, where the crumbling ceiling is about to collapse. Those, who have remained at the side of the Führer, try to create a joyous ambiance to celebrate Hitler's birthday. It is clear to everybody that the end is near. It is just a matter of time.
The nazi time is coming to an end. The average desperate citizen is trying to survive. Meanwhile in the bunker they celebrate with food and drinks the 56th birthday of Adolf Hitler.
It is a story, that follows historical events closely, about people in an extreme situation. It confronts the audience with the question whether you can feel any sympathy for any of the characters in this play.
Besides that, it is a play about denial. Denial of defeat, of resposibility and of nearness of death.
